Nairobi National Park is a safari park tucked away on the outskirts of the bustling city of Nairobi. It’s a perfect spot to see lots of animals if you only have half a day.

We saw lions-even one on the hunt, gazelles, hippos, zebras, rhinos, giraffes, ostriches, baboons-plenty to quench your safari thirst-and all close up! You have a backdrop of the city and the Kenya railway runs through the middle of the park. The only animal that is not roaming wild inside the park is the elephant. However, you can get tickets to go to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage that is inside the park and see baby elephants.

There are two restrooms within the park where you can get out and stretch your legs One has an amazing viewpoint and instagram worthy photo op. The other has a short walking path with a security guard. On the path, our guard was pointing out that a lioness had been in the area 20 minutes before us and then showed us where a black rhino had been laying earlier in the day.

An adult non-citizen ticket runs around $50 USD. Tickets are best purchased through ECitizen, you should already have an account set up if you purchased a visa to get in to Kenya.
Private cars are allowed to go through, but a safari jeep is definitely recommended as the roads can get pretty rough and washed out. We connected with Traverse Missions for our jeep and guide-very knowledgeable and informative and wanted to get us the best views of the wildlife.
If you don’t have time to leave the city and go explore one of the bigger parks in Kenya, Nairobi National Park is the perfect trip!
