In doing research on the best place to watch the sunset in Nairobi, Champagne Ridge kept coming up, but locals didn’t seem to be familiar with the name. I found it and it is breathtaking! At the Kona Baridi exit of Ngong Hills, make a left. Or go through Ngong, then Kiserian, then make a left. Welcome to Champagne Ridge!

It’s roughly an hour and a half from Nairobi. Perfect for a weekend getaway or even just an afternoon excursion to witness the thrill of watching the sun hit the horizon and darkness overtake the valley. You are close to Lake Magadi and there are some hiking trails to explore the area. Olepolos Country Club is also out in this area-famous for their nyama choma. You could also pick up some food to take with you for a picnic. Watch for hyenas, stretch out with a blanket and listen to a game of your favorite football club… or just revel in the silence. There are quite a few Airbnbs in the area should you choose to stay. Check out Deb’s places: The Cave, The Nest, and The Dhow – all have incredible sunset views and good vibes.
